Making it hard to be thankful

The goings-on in Colorado rarely make any national news, and when they do it is almost universally bad. When I was going to boarding school in CO, the Columbine shootings actually prompted one of my friends to say "Wow, I'd almost fogotten that Colorado was a real place - not just South Park."

I shit you not.

Today is no exception. Imagine my surprise when I discover this while reading the NYTimes online:

A proposed amendment raises the prospect of a heated local debate over
abortion at the same time that Democrats are gathering in the state for their
national convention.

The blurb does it no justice. It boils down to this: there are people in Colorado State Government (not just civilian fundies) who want to give fertilized eggs legal rights.

Yeah. I know. More on this later.
